Contact your Congressman!!!!!!

Contact your Congressman and ask him/her to introduce a measure, prior to Christmas break, regarding AMT (Alternative Minimum Tax).

The Alternate Minimum Tax was a tax introduced many years ago.  It was to impact people who earned a high wage.  This has not been adjusted for inflation appropriately for years.  If it is not adjusted to meet today’s inflation this will impact the middle class wage earners; precisely what Obama said he would not do.

Take action today or your taxes will increase dramatically when filing your 2012 tax returns.

Pennsylvania Farmers Applaud General Assembly for Passing Legislation Updating the State Vehicle Code (PFB Urges Governor to Sign Bills)

(Camp Hill) – Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) praised the state General Assembly for passing legislation that will update the state vehicle code and resolve long-standing transportation problems experienced by farmers.

“The reasonable changes to the state vehicle code included in Senate Bill 390 and House Bills 2371 and 2372 will allow farmers to move modern pieces of equipment from field to field and field to farmstead. While newer equipment has enabled farmers to increase productivity, especially during the planting and harvest seasons, they are wider than vehicles typically used by farmers 30 years ago. We are now urging Governor Corbett to sign the legislation,” said PFB President Carl T. Shaffer.

The Senate bill would increase the width allowance of a farm implement of husbandry (such as a planter) up to 16 feet. H.B. 2371 would clarify the types of agriculture materials that can be transported by agribusiness vehicles under increased width allowances to include manure, while HB 2372 would increase the distance farm equipment and trucks that are used primarily around the home farm can travel from 25 miles to 50 miles and increase the distance a multi-purpose agriculture vehicle, such as a four-wheeler, can travel from two miles to five miles.

“The long overdue changes to the code regulating farm trucks are needed, because farmers are traveling longer distances to plant and harvest crops on farmland they own and rent. They also are required to travel longer distances to deliver agricultural products or to reach businesses that sell farming supplies,” added Shaffer.

Farm Bureau noted it strongly supports changes to the vehicle code included in the legislation that will require additional precautions by farmers under certain circumstances.

“Farmers are committed to maintaining safety on Pennsylvania roadways and welcome the opportunity to increase safety measures to further protect drivers and passengers in other vehicles by installing extra lighting or using pilot vehicles,” concluded Shaffer.

SUNACRW encourages you to come out and support the Servanos!

The SUN (Snyder, Union, and Northumberland counties) Area Council of Republican Women recently passed a resolution in support of American citizenship for the Servano’s.  The resolution is posted on their website at www.sunacrw.wordpress.com.

Dr. Pedro and Mrs. Salvacion Servano have been fighting for citizenship due to an issue with their paperwork. They were told to report to the Allenwood Prison for deportation during November 2007.  They are currently here on a stay but are not citizens.  The only way for them to gain their citizenship is through a legislative bill.   Pedro earned a degree as a medical doctor and Salvacion earned a degree as a nurse.  They have been working in America and paying taxes.  Dr. Servano has been providing medical care to Americans, including those on Medicare, which other doctors would not accept. Dr. Servano has worked for Geisinger Medical Center for 17 years.  Salvacion is currently operating a family store in Sunbury, they has established successful businesses in the Susquehanna Valley; and  have four children who were raised in America and are natural born U.S. citizens.

The SUNACRW are encouraging the public to attend a vigil in the Sunbury Park on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 6:30 pm sponsored by the SUN Area Council of Republican Women.  Their resolution will be read and petitions will be available for anyone wishing to sign to show their support.  Questions, please call 570-541-8697.  -End-

There are those who are abusing those rules, and those who have sought the proper channels and seem to be caught in catch 22 in the system.  One case involves the Servano family of Selinsgrove, PA. It had received national attention throughout 2007 when then U.S.  Senator Arlen Spector advocated for their cause. The Servano family continues in legal limbo to this day.
