Common Core: The Government’s Classroom
On Tuesday, September 9th from 8 to 9pm EST, the Family Research Council will host a webcast to inform parents, teachers, and officials on the coming overhaul in testing and curriculum that is part of the Common Core State Standards Initiative. In preparation for the coming school year, FRC has assembled guests including Dr. Sandra Stotsky of the University of Arkansas; Jane Robbins, Esq. of the American Principles Project; Dr. Neal McCluskey of the CATO Institute; and Will Estrada, Esq. of the Home School Legal Defense Association to examine the Initiative in depth, and provide background on its origin and aims. Host and FRC President Tony Perkins, together with Senior Fellow Sarah Perry will discuss the Initiative’s implications of federalism, privacy, and academic performance, and address efforts to reverse the Common Core state-by-state.
In keeping with President Meryl Hatton’s theme, “Our Children, Our Future,” the Pennsylvania Federation of Republican Women will be collecting school supplies for students in need. If you would like to make a donation and are not attending PFRW convention, please make arrangements with someone who is attending. Thanks in advance for your generosity
“Last night I spoke on the House floor against the proposed cigarette tax increase. My full comments are available below. Hardworking Philadelphians and those visiting the city should not have to pay more and have those tax dollars funneled to the teacher union coffers. I will continue to oppose any and all tax increases. The government takes too much of our hard earned money already.” ~ Representative Daryl Metcalfe
Are you aware of Common Core? Do you know what our children today, leaders of tomorrow, are being taught? What have YOU done to stop this nonsense of “common core?”
Republican Women clubs on a national, state, and local level are concerned about the future of our children and country. Why not visit a meeting and see how you can be involved and make a difference?
