America’s energy industry hangs in the balance

n his inauguration address, President Biden spoke of a nation moving forward as one to overcome the many challenges ahead, proclaiming that doing so “requires the most elusive of things in a democracy: unity.”

Unfortunately for the hardworking men and women employed in America’s energy industry, the new president’s words proved hollow as his administration immediately signed job-killing executive orders dismantling the economic and national security progress America made over the last four years.

President Biden’s actions during his first week in office contradicted his words just one week prior. Far from uniting the nation, the President, with the stroke of a pen, created economic uncertainty and disruption for American workers.

In his first seven days, President Biden canceled the Keystone XL pipeline, rejoined the Paris Climate Agreement, and banned mining and drilling on federal lands, placing the future of America’s energy industry and the millions of livelihoods it supports in peril.

What is worse, these actions have nothing to do with moving our country forward. If the Biden administration sincerely wanted to reduce emissions, it would advocate for projects like the Keystone XL pipeline, which was on a path to operate entirely by solar, wind, and battery power thus eliminating its greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

Instead, President Biden killed the project completely on Day 1 of his term, reversing the gains made under President Trump at the expense of the American worker, many of whom are union members.

Our national endeavor to achieve energy independence did not happen overnight. It became a reality because of the tireless leadership of the Trump administration and the hard work of countless American workers to usher in a new era of abundant domestic energy production.

For the first time in more than 70 years, the United States is energy independent. With this comes affordable energy, family-sustaining jobs, and the restoration of America’s strength on the global stage.

The energy production coming out of Pennsylvania’s 12th District plays a critical role in this effort, with our district producing up to 10 percent of America’s natural gas supply on any given day. Pennsylvania has become a state among nations in terms of energy production and the jobs it creates.

Pennsylvania’s statewide energy sector now sustains more than 300,000 jobs, pays more than $23 billion in wages, contributes $45 billion to the commonwealth’s economy, and saves the average household $1,100 every year in energy costs.

Yet, President Biden continually fails to realize that his attack on the energy industry is felt most in communities across the nation that rely on the prosperity of the domestic energy industry to sustain other sectors of the economy.

Once again, our district serves as a useful example. Over the years, energy companies have been outstanding partners in our communities and have helped make great strides in improving rural health care, schools, infrastructure and downstream job opportunities in hotels, restaurants and other industries.

Consequently, when the Biden administration attacks the energy industry, our entire economy is caught in the crossfire — threatening the ability of millions of working Americans to earn a living and provide for their families.

In a ham-handed rebuttal to this fact, climate tsar John Kerry said in a press conference last week that the gas and coal workers who lost their jobs can simply transition to newer, greener jobs. This brand of ivory-tower patronizing is reminiscent of when now-President Biden told coal miners in 2019 they should just “learn to code.”

The disconnect between this administration and the average American worker is best illustrated by the arrogant condescension it shows the latter, destroying their livelihoods while claiming it’s for their own good. During this press conference, Kerry also conveniently neglected to mention that President Biden’s executive orders are putting Americans out of work faster than there are new, “green” jobs created to replace them.

The green infrastructure Kerry likes to tout pales in comparison to the in-demand jobs needed now to meet America’s growing energy needs. Kerry’s elitist view of America’s workforce only demonstrates how far removed this administration is from the workers whose interests they claim to represent.

At a time when our focus should be on getting Americans back to work, the Biden administration’s efforts to hamstring our domestic energy sector and the jobs it supports are self-defeating.

If the president’s destructive actions toward America’s domestic energy production in his first week in office are any indication of where energy policy is headed over the next four years, our nation is on a dangerous path.

Since assuming office, the Biden administration has only worsened the economic prospects for Americans trying to get through this pandemic and secure a better future for their families.

In order to sustain good-paying jobs, create prosperity for future generations, and secure American interests around the globe, we must reject and counteract policies that place a higher premium on appeasing the left than protecting the future of America’s energy sector.

Well said William Shirk! Ignorance of History

Ignorance of history

In my opinion, all the letter writers disparaging Congressman Keller are ignorant. Not one of their letters mentioned that Democrats attempted the same House Floor Electoral College challenge in 2017.

Failure to include that historical fact in their letters indicates ignorance of history, or an ignorant act of political partisanship.

Over the past four years, Democrats continuously accused President Trump of Russian collusion. Their lead cheerleader Congressman Adam Schiff claimed he had Intelligence Committee proof.

Astonishingly, transcripts of testimony by Obama administration officials before Schiff’s committee showed that not one Obama official could produce any Russian collusion evidence.

The Democrats claimed the 2016 election was stolen. Their false and made-up Steele Dossier (a paid for political opposition research report) was used as justification to spy on Trump and launch the pathetic Mueller Investigation.

Where was the letter-writer outrage over false accusations made by the Democrats?

Democrats are calling for the “reprogramming” and “punishment” of Trump supporters. To me, that sounds like the historical actions of Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, and Mao.

We the People should fear any elected official, corporate leader, or media personality who promotes public safety through censorship of free speech.

The Jan. 6 Capitol riot was a fool’s errand committed by a proportionally small number of radicals amongst the tens of thousands who were present. Punishing all Trump supporters for the irresponsible actions of a few is taking a page right out of “The Tyrants’ Playbook.”

For four years we were lied to about Russian collusion. Now we’re supposed to believe nothing questionable could occur with mail-in ballots?

A little bit of sunshine goes a long way when it comes to destroying a conspiracy.

What if the states and cities in question had allowed a review of the mailed envelopes and paper ballots? Why not a test of the machines? If there was nothing to hide why not shine the light of day upon it?

I have faith in the processing of ballots in Monroe Township, Snyder County, because I witnessed Democrats and Republicans working together as a team during the voting process. They confirmed my identity and saw to it that I followed established protocols. A check and balance system like that with representatives from both political parties present I trust and believe in.

If you’re going to silence and arrest anyone who dares to question the 2020 election, you’d better do the same for those who questioned the 2016 results.

The day you walk into a department store and half the manufactured goods say “Made in Russia” instead of “Made in China” you can worry about Russian collusion.

Telling citizens how and what to think sounds an awful lot like China to me.

Yes, the USA was blessed with four great years! (2016-2020)

A great four years

Having Donald Trump as my president has been so refreshing.

He was a president who paid great respect to God, American values, our flag, our police, our military, and the lives of the unborn. He set in motion the path to greater economic progress which affects my present life and my retirement.

I intend to stay connected to the movement that he started. Thank you Donald Trump for four great years.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A victims’ rights constitutional amendment that Pennsylvania voters apparently passed by a wide margin was thrown out Thursday by a divided state court that ruled it bundled too many changes together.

Rep David Rowe on the 2020 Elections Numbers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEDECEMBER 28, 2020PA Lawmakers: Numbers Don’t Add Up, Certification of Presidential Results Premature and In Error HARRISBURG – A group of state lawmakers performing extensive analysis of election data today revealed troubling discrepancies between the numbers of total votes counted and total number of voters who voted in the 2020 General Election, and as a result are questioning how the results of the presidential election could possibly have been certified by Secretary of the Commonwealth Kathy Boockvar and Governor Tom Wolf. These findings are in addition to prior concerns regarding actions by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the Secretary, and others impacting the conduct of the election. A comparison of official county election results to the total number of voters who voted on November 3, 2020 as recorded by the Department of State shows that 6,962,607 total ballots were reported as being cast, while DoS/SURE system records indicate that only 6,760,230 total voters actually voted. Among the 6,962,607 total ballots cast, 6,931,060 total votes were counted in the presidential race, including all three candidates on the ballot and write-in candidates. The difference of 202,377 more votes cast than voters voting, together with the 31,547 over- and under-votes in the presidential race, adds up to an alarming discrepancy of 170,830 votes, which is more than twice the reported statewide difference between the two major candidates for President of the United States. On November 24, 2020, Boockvar certified election results, and Wolf issued a certificate of ascertainment of presidential electors, stating that Vice President Joe Biden received 80,555 more votes than President Donald Trump. The lawmakers issued the following statement in response to their findings:“We were already concerned with the actions of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the Executive branch, and election officials in certain counties contravening and undermining the Pennsylvania Election Code by eliminating signature verification, postmarks, and due dates while allowing the proliferation of drop boxes with questionable security measures and the unauthorized curing of ballots, as well as the questionable treatment of poll watchers, all of which created wholesale opportunities for irregularities in the 2020 presidential election.”“ However, we are now seeing discrepancies on the retail level which raise even more troubling questions regarding irregularities in the election returns. These findings call into question the accuracy of the SURE system, consistency in the application of the Pennsylvania Election Code from county to county, and the competency of those charged with oversight of elections in our Commonwealth. “These numbers just don’t add up, and the alleged certification of Pennsylvania’s presidential election results was absolutely premature, unconfirmed, and in error.” State Representative Frank Ryan indicated that state legislators sponsoring and participating in this analysis were himself, Rep. Russ Diamond, Rep. Dave Zimmerman, Rep. Barb Gleim, Rep. Stephanie Borowicz, Rep. Dan Moul, Rep. Paul Schemel, Rep. Dawn Keefer, Rep. Eric Nelson, Rep. Mike Jones, Rep. Rob Kauffman, Rep. David Maloney, Rep. David Rowe, Rep. Kathy Rapp, Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, Rep. Jim Cox and Rep Brett Miller.
