Know who is on the ballot before going to the polls . . .

(The Andy Andrews book How Do You Kill 11 MILLION PEOPLE? he writes . . . ) “ “If we don’t understand honesty and integrity from American’s leadership non – and reward that integrity with our votes – our leaders will lack the fortitude to make the hard decisions that must be made to change course.” “President James A. Garfield issued a warning widely reported in the press . . . He said, Now, more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruptions. If it be intelligent, brave, and purse, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in national legislature. Then he added, If [one hundred years from now] the next centennial does not find us a great nation . . . it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling political forces.”

“Incredibly, there are currently 545 human beings who directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for every problem America faces.”

(The Andy Andrews book How Do You Kill 11 MILLION PEOPLE? he writes . . . ) “You see, the danger in America is not a single politician with ill intent. Or even a group of them. The most dangerous thing any nation faces is a citizenry capable of trusting a liar to lead them. In the long run, it is much easier to undo the policies of a crooked leadership than to restore common sense and wisdom to a deceived population willing to elect such a leader in the first place. Any country can survive having chosen a fool as their leader. But history has shown time and again that a nation of fools is surely doomed. “
“Incredibly, there are currently 545 human beings who directly, legally, morally and individually responsible l for every problem America faces. Have you ever wondered why America doesn’t have a balanced budget? Have you ever in your life heard of a politician who wasn’t for a balanced budget?”
“Meet the 545 men and women who enact every law, propose every budge, and set every policy enforced on the citizens of United States of America: one president, nine Supreme Court justices, one hundred senators, and 435 members of the House of Representatives. . . . To be clear that is 545 of them and 31`1 million of us. Can 311 million Americans ever hope to wrestle the power away from 545?”

You kill eleven million people by lying to them.

(The Andy Andrews book How Do You Kill 11 MILLION PEOPLE? he writes . . . ) “ “This did not happen overnight! How did things get so out of hand? How did it get to this point? ‘How fortunate for leaders,’ Hitler said to his inner circle, ‘that men do not think. Make the lie big and simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it.’ In Mein Kampf, Hitler’s autobiography, he wrote, The great masses of the people will more easily fall victim to a big lie than to a small one. The book was widely read by the German people at the time.”

How do you kill eleven million people?

(The Andy Andrews book How Do You Kill 11 MILLION PEOPLE? he writes . . . ) “ “11,283,000-the number of people recorded who were killed by Adolf Hitler between the years of 1993 and 1945. Incidentally, that particular figure only represents institutionalized killing. I does not include the 5,200,000 German civilians and military war dead. Neither does it include the 28,736,000 Europeans killed during World War II as a result of Hitler’s aggressive governmental policies.” “What we need to understand is how eleven million people allow themselves to be killed.” “So why, for month after month and year after year, did millions of intelligent human beings –guarded by a relatively few Nazi soldiers – willingly load their families into tens of thousands of cattle cars to be transported by rail to one of the many death camps scattered across Europe? How can a condemned group of people headed for a gas chamber be compelled to act in a docile manner? The answer is breathtakingly simple. And it is a method still being used by some elected leaders to achieve various goals today. How do you kill eleven million people? Lie to them.”

Will we allow history to repeat itself?

(The Andy Andrews book How Do You Kill 11 MILLION PEOPLE? he writes . . . ) “I uncovered an odd paradox that exists in our minds about time gone by. It is a difference most people don’t discern between history and the past. Simply stated, the past is what is real and true, while history is merely what someone recorded.”
“The people of our present would retain a general awareness of historical time lines and a few specific dramatic events that shaped our lives. We occasionally read history or watch history presented on film. But in terms of why we do what we do, how we govern each other, what our society allows and why –very few of us intentionally connect the truth of the past with realized of where we have ended up today.“

Patriotism Defined

For 2012 Irene has started In God We Still Trust – A 365 – Day Devotional written by Dr. Richard G. Lee.  On January 2nd, Patriotism is defined . . . “Noah Webster’s An American Dictionary of English Language, 1828: patriotism n. Love of one’s country; the passion which aims to serve one’s country, either in defending it from invasion, or protecting its rights and maintaining its laws and institutions in vigor and purity.  Patriotism is the characteristic of a good citizen, the noblest passion that animates a man in the character of a citizen.

Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Diction, Eleventh Edition, copyright 2004 patiotism, n. Love for or devotion to one’s country.

Note how the definitions have changed.  With its objective actions, Noah Webster’s patriotism is very different from the vague, subjective patriotism of one who only feels love for his country.  True patriotism is not just an emotional feeling; it is action.

Webster’s original definition starts with a love for country, but moves to specific actions; service to country, defense starts with a love for country, but moves to specific actions to country, defense of country, protection  of the rights of country, maintenance of the laws and institutions of country, and preservation of religion and morality in public and private life.  This kind of patriotism puts the needs of the country above personal and partisan desires, as well as above the favor of foreign nations.  ”

Republican Party . . . the party of principles

(A book Irene encourages you to read) In Andre Harper’s book Political Emancipation, a book he wrote about his “personal political odyssey and experiences leading to his departure from the Democratic party and led to his political emancipation followed by his emergence as an independent thinker;” he writes,

“. . .  the Republican Party was the party of principles.  From the beginning, the Party believed in individual freedom, patriotism, limiting government, protecting our land and despite the contentious political climate of the day, it fought to end slavery.  I can’t imagine the courage it took for those men to oppose an institution that directly resulted in early wealth creation of this nation.  The abolition of slavery could have potentially destroyed the economy of this country.  Nonetheless, they fought to end it anyway because principles trump the situational ethics practiced by Democrats.”

Times change but people don’t

(A book Irene encourages you to read) In Andre Harper’s book Political Emancipation, a book he wrote about his “personal political odyssey and experiences leading to his departure from the Democratic party and led to his political emancipation followed by his emergence as an independent thinker;” he writes,

“I am a firm believer that times change put people don’t.  God made the Ten Commandments over 2000 years ago because man was having issues with murder, larceny and adultery just as they are today.  I believe that the same sentiments sill run our tow political parties even though the names have changed through the years.”

“Sweep around your own front door before you try to sweep around mine.”

(A book Irene encourages you to read) In Andre Harper’s book Political Emancipation, a book he wrote about his “personal political odyssey and experiences leading to his departure from the Democratic party and led to his political emancipation followed by his emergence as an independent thinker;” he writes,

“Issues like violence, crime, teenage pregnancy, the proliferation of AIDS in our community and education are issues that we should be handling ourselves instead of petitioning others to remedy.  Somehow our leaders seem to ignore this because championing issues like personal responsibility aren’t as lucrative as the war in Iraq or presidential politics.  It’s like the old folks used to say “Sweep around your own front door before you try to sweep around mine.”  Bill Cosby is correct; our community needs to focus on self-improvement.”

Stand up for what you believe in . . .

(A book Irene encourages you to read) In Andre Harper’s book Political Emancipation, a book he wrote about his “personal political odyssey and experiences leading to his departure from the Democratic party and led to his political emancipation followed by his emergence as an independent thinker;” he writes,

“. . .. the importance of standing up for what you believe in and that the leader will be the one who suffers the most while others benefit from their sacrifice . . . it’s important to have a purpose and a desired outcome whenever you decide to take risks.”
