Why Poll Watch?

Why is poll watching so important during a General Election?  A Poll Watcher does nothing more than sit at the polls and cross off names as voters vote.  From there, the list is then taken to a phone bank calling those who have not voted reminding them today is Election Day and how important their vote is.  This is what takes the average number of voters to above average.  You would be surprised at the number of people who were “going to stop on their way from home from work and forgot.”  Or those who were fed up with everything, but because they received a personal phone call asking them to vote, will go and vote.  Or those who need a ride to the polls, which we will setup.  Poll Watching is what takes the average voter turnout and takes it above average.

Are you available for an hour or two on Election Day to poll watch or make phone calls reminding  people to vote?  Is so, please contact us at rockstargop@verizon.net

Action Alert! Resolution opposing any proposed natural gas severance tax bill

The PA Republican State Committee met on Saturday, September 25, 2010.  Eric Matthews, Republican Chairman of  Bradford County,  proposed a resolution regarding the gas severance tax.  He followed procedure and submitted it in the time frame needed.  The PA Republican Resolutions Committee decided to table the resolution until the next meeting in February 2011; the tax vote is taking place  OCTOBER 1, 2010.  When the resolutions committee decided to sit there and do nothing, several people approached their caucuses and held discussions or passed the resolution in their caucus; which was then decided to be brought up under new business in the Republican Committee Meeting.  When it came time for new business, Chairman Gleason would NOT allow new business and adjourned the meeting.  The Republican State Committee members are elected to represent the voters, not Rob Gleason!  It looks like the Republican Party is not going to represent the voters on this important issue.  Now is the time to make your voice heard.  Call your senator opposing a gas severance tax!  http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/member_information/senators_alpha.cfm

How can I make a difference? Be a driver.

Drivers are needed to drive candidates to places.  Driving can be exhausting and stressful.  By having a driver the candidate can make phone calls, write letters, nap, etc. without having to worry about the responsibilities of driving.  Also, there are those voters who will need a ride to the polls because they either cannot drive or do not have a vehicle.  Every vote does count and we need to ensure every registered voter has a way to get to the polls.  Volunteer on a campaign to be a driver.
