Susquehanna Valley Conservatives sponsor bus to Second Amendment Rally 4/23/2013

Fellow Conservatives,

There is a very important event taking place in Harrisburg on Tuesday, April 23rd. It’s the PA Second Amendment Action Day which demands the attention of all citizens, especially hunters, who are concerned about our Second Amendment and plans by the Obama Administration to severely restrict our right to own and bear arms, if not to confiscate them completely. Attached are two fliers that outline the important purpose for holding this event.

SVC wants to support State Representative Daryl Metcalfe and leaders from pro-Second Amendment organizations from across the state of Pennsylvania. In order to make it easy for our members to attend this event we have chartered a bus to take us to Harrisburg and back. The cost is a very reasonable at $20 per person to ride in comfort to and from Harrisburg on Tuesday, April 23rd. There are still some seats available but we encourage you to sign up as soon as possible but certainly before April 1. A reservation form is attached for your convenience.

Susquehanna Valley Conservatives Bus Trip 4-23-2013

Just had to share this email we received . . .

rifleToday I opened my front door wide open and set my Winchester Model 94 right in the doorway.   I placed 6 cartridges beside it, and noticing that it had no legs, set it on my mom’s old wheelchair to help it get around.  I then left it alone and went about my business.   While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the neighbor boy across the street mowed the yard, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign right in front of our house.

After a couple of hours, I checked on the gun.   It was still setting there in the wheelchair, right where I had left it.   It hadn’t rolled itself outside.   It certainly hadn’t killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it had been presented to do so.   In fact, it hadn’t even loaded itself.   Well you can imagine my surprise, with all the media hype about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people.

Either the media is wrong, and it’s the misuse of guns by PEOPLE that kills people, or I’m in possession of the laziest gun in the world.

Alright, well I’m off to check on my spoons.  I hear they’re making people fat.

Note time change for March 2013 SVC Meeting. Rep Daryl Metcalfe to speak on Second Amendement Rights

Please note that the March 11, 2013 Susquehanna Valley Conservatives will be held at 7:30 pm (rather than 7 pm as previously announced).

“PROTECTING OUR RIGHTS TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS”

That’s the topic Daryl Metcalfe (Republican- Butler County) will be addressing when he is the speaker for the Monday, March 11 meeting of Susquehanna Valley Conservatives at 7:00PM in the Baylor East Conference Room of the Best Western Country Cupboard Inn, Lewisburg. Recognized by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as the Pennsylvania General Assembly’s “No. 1 Conservative”, State Representative Daryl Metcalfe is serving his eighth term in office. He serves as the Republican Majority Chairman of the Pennsylvania House State Government Committee.

On January 23, 2013, Rep. Metcalfe announced his legislation that would make any new federal gun control laws unenforceable within the Commonwealth. “Passage of my legislation will send a message that there will never be additional gun control, anywhere in Pennsylvania,” said Metcalfe. “Whether by White House executive orders, congressional fiat, or judicial activism, we will never allow the left to benefit from the wicked acts of murderers in order to advance their senseless gun-grabbing agenda which would only succeed in replacing one of our most sacred personal liberties with the chains of government tyranny.”

The meeting is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

PA proposed bill would require all law abiding firearms owners to purchase firearms liability insurance

PA House Representative Daryl Metcalfe writes, “Rep. Ron Waters (D-Phila./Delaware) has proposed legislation that would require ALL law-abiding firearms owners to purchase firearms liability insurance. The bill also includes a provision that allows law enforcement officers to confiscate firearms if “proof of insurance” is not presented. This is another liberal gun-grabbing attempt and a violation of the 2nd Amendment and Article 1, Section 21 of the Pennsylvania Constitution.”

Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show postponed after vendors pull out over gun ban

After a week of protests following a decision to ban assault weapons, Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show.

Reed has not said if it will reschedule the show, which was originally set to open Feb. 2 at the Farm Show Complex. Reed has not answered repeated requests for comment this week.

In a statement on its website, Reed said:

“It has become very clear to us after speaking with our customers that the event could not be held because the atmosphere of this year’s show would not be conducive to an event that is designed to provide family enjoyment.

“It is unfortunate that in the current emotionally charged atmosphere this celebratory event has become overshadowed by a decision that directly affected a small percentage of more than 1,000 exhibits showcasing products and services for those interested in hunting and fishing.”

The National Shooting Sports Foundation, a firearms trade association based in Newtown, Conn., has already issued a statement on the postponement:

“In the days following Reed Exhibitions’ announcement that modern sporting rifles would be prohibited from the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, the leadership of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has been in intense, frank discussions with Reed Exhibitions management in an effort to reverse this unacceptable decision. These discussions reached an impasse.

“NSSF is in no way affiliated with, nor does it participate in or exhibit at this show in any way. “

The foundation owns SHOT Show, an annual firearm show that Reed managed earlier this month in Las Vegas. Because of its policy at the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, the NSSF said it is “considering all options regarding the management of future SHOT Shows.”
