Herman Cain to Keynote 2011 PA Leadership Conference!

Herman Cain, likely Presidential candidate, radio talk show host and former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza will deliver the Keynote Address at the 2011 Pennsylvania Leadership Conference on Saturday, April 9th at 9:30 A.M.

Raised in Atlanta, Georgia by poor parents who survived by faith and hard work, Mr. Cain graduated from Morehouse College.  After earning his Master’s Degree, he went to work for the Department of the Navy, the Coca Cola Company, and then Pillsbury’s Burger King Division.  He took over Godfather’s Pizza as it teetered on the edge of bankruptcy.  Mr.

Cain returned the company to profitability and then sold it to a management team.  He is currently a talk show host on WSB-AM/FM in Atlanta, Georgia and has formed a Presidential Exploratory Committee.

The 2011 Pennsylvania Leadership Conference will be held April 8th and 9th at the Radisson Penn Harris Convention Center in Camp Hill (Harrisburg), Pennsylvania.

Fox News Analyst and Pulitzer Prize winning columnist Dr. Charles Krauthammer is the conference’s featured dinner speaker.  Also addressing the conference will be U.S. Senator Pat Toomey; Lt. Governor James Cawley; former Virginia Governor James Gilmore, now President of the Free Congress Foundation; Rose Tennent of the Quinn & Rose Program; John Gizzi of Human Events, John Fund of the Wall Street Journal, Tim Phillips of Americans for Prosperity and state senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Jake Corman.

The Pennsylvania Leadership Conference is the premiere annual gathering each year of conservative activists from across the commonwealth.  Known as “Pennsylvania’s CPAC,” the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference will also feature four interactive panel presentations, workshops, and over 40 exhibitors.

School Choice Town Hall

The Union County Republican Committee will host a Town Hall meeting March 22 at the Lewisburg Area High School, 815 Market Street, Lewisburg, at 7 pm.

The topic is: School Vouchers; It’s Your Choice

Guest speaker is Senator Anthony Williams, Democrat, 8th District, Philadelphia.  The Commonwealth Foundation will present their research findings, in support of Senator Williams current bill SB1, the Opportunity Scholarship Act.

Senator Anthony Williams, a lifelong resident of West Philadelphia, is serving his 4th term in the PA Senate. He is currently the minority whip. He, along with Senator Jeff Piccola, Republican, 15th district (Dauphin and York Counties), authored SB 1 to provide educational options for students imprisoned in failing public schools.

In the first two years, the failing school districts will be addressed. In year three, vouchers for low income students will expand to include all PA public school districts. These vouchers will allow the parent to use the voucher to send their children to the school of their choice, public or private.

The Commonwealth Foundation is a non-profit independent research and educational foundation. Its mission is to effectively demonstrate the social benefits of individual liberty, free enterprise, and a limited and accountable government so that key decision makers in PA will embrace these principles.
